The End

There’s a sad sort of clanging
From the clock in the hall
And the bells in the steeple, too;
And up in the nurs’ry
An absurd little bird
Is popping out to say “coo-coo.”
(Coo-coo, coo-coo.)
Regretfully they tell us
But firmly they compel us
To say goodbye to you . . .
So long, farewell,
Auf Wiedersehen, good night. [“So Long, Farewell” from The Sound of Music]

A few months back, I made the very difficult decision to end the Always Austen blog. A few of the participants initially thought to reorganize it and take it over, but we are all so over scheduled these days that it was not feasible.

My health has not been the best of late, and something had to go. My own blog runs three days per week and is ranked in the top ten “history” blogs. Therefore, as an author of historical novels, that is where I must focus my limited energies. I am very grateful for the friends I made with this endeavor. P.O. Dixon, Collins Hemingway, Bronwen Chisholm, Alice McVeigh, Melanie Schertz, Anne Madison, Gianna Thomas, Tiffany Thomas, Bethany Delleman, Corrie Garret, Don Jacobson, Kirstin Odegaard, Riana Everly, Elaine Owen, and Kimbelle Pease treated the blog and me with great respect. I am ever thankful to call them my friends.

The blog will remain live until the first week of December, so if you wish to revisit it to refresh your memory about something you read, you may do so at that time. After that, it will be another 404 file on the internet.

Thank you for administering this blog for as long as you have. Life happens and we all move on, but the memories and knowledge gained live on. Thank you to all the contributors!

Thank you so much Regina, I’ve really enjoyed many of these posts. I certainly understand how health issues can affect what you can and can’t do. I wish you an improvement in your health and a happy life. Best of luck to all the other authors. 🙂

We all reach an age where we must again place priority on ourself, Glynis. It is unfortunate, but it is the way of things. I am not going away, just making some adjustments.

The way of aging is that when one thing is “fixed” another appears. LOL! Thank you for being a steady follower of the blog and all the authors with whom you have spent time.

So sad ro see the end of a comforting read. So sorry to hear your health is not too good. I know the feeling I am 78, and have been diagnosed with Age Related Macular Degeneration so my beloved kindle (no 5 in a long line)is becoming even more of a lifesaver. The back light and larger print size are invaluable now, so good luck with your health and I hope you will keep writing your great stories

We are the same age, Lois, if that explains things. Moreover, I want to spend more time watching my grandkids playing sports and being in theatre and dance productions. It is important to remain a fixture in their lives.

Thank you so much for providing this blog to Jane Austen lovers! The contributions of all the authors have been fantastic! I’ve learned a lot and enjoyed myself while doing so. The blog will be missed. Best wishes for your restoration to good health and in all your future endeavors, and the same wishes go to all the authors who have contributed.

We must learn to choose our priorities. I have so many stories swimming in my head, and I must place those and my family, along with my health, at the head of the line. Each of the authors on this blog feel the same. We will miss these moments, but change is inevitable.

None of the authors, including me, are going away. We have simply changed the path we are following. Thanks for being a part of our story.

Regina, I want to thank you first for your inexhaustible knowledge of all things Regency and for your hundreds if not thousands of informative blogs over many years and several platforms. Second, thank you for providing this platform to many other writers and for wrangling us in a persistent and fair manner to keep the readership informed and engaged. Thanks finally for becoming a friend. Collins
