There’s a sad sort of clanging
From the clock in the hall
And the bells in the steeple, too;
And up in the nurs’ry
An absurd little bird
Is popping out to say “coo-coo.”
(Coo-coo, coo-coo.)
Regretfully they tell us
But firmly they compel us
To say goodbye to you . . .
So long, farewell,
Auf Wiedersehen, good night. [“So Long, Farewell” from The Sound of Music]

A few months back, I made the very difficult decision to end the Always Austen blog. A few of the participants initially thought to reorganize it and take it over, but we are all so over scheduled these days that it was not feasible.
My health has not been the best of late, and something had to go. My own blog runs three days per week and is ranked in the top ten “history” blogs. Therefore, as an author of historical novels, that is where I must focus my limited energies. I am very grateful for the friends I made with this endeavor. P.O. Dixon, Collins Hemingway, Bronwen Chisholm, Alice McVeigh, Melanie Schertz, Anne Madison, Gianna Thomas, Tiffany Thomas, Bethany Delleman, Corrie Garret, Don Jacobson, Kirstin Odegaard, Riana Everly, Elaine Owen, and Kimbelle Pease treated the blog and me with great respect. I am ever thankful to call them my friends.
The blog will remain live until the first week of December, so if you wish to revisit it to refresh your memory about something you read, you may do so at that time. After that, it will be another 404 file on the internet.
