This month, I wrote a song for Elizabeth, sung to the tune of “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music. Enjoy!

Walking outside with the sun on her shoulders,
Meeting George Wickham—his grin really smolders!
Smiling and tossing out smart repartee,
This is Elizabeth’s favorite day!
*
Reading a book to avoid boring chatter,
Laughing with Jane and discussing the matter,
Verbally besting that Darcy all day,
This is Elizabeth’s favorite day!
*
Skipping a dance with that Collins, so boring,
Seeing Jane’s face and how love leaves her soaring,
Having the freedom to say what she may,
This is Elizabeth’s favorite day!
*
When the rain pours,
When there’s illness,
When she’s feeling down,
She simply remembers that her husband gets
A yearly ten thousand pounds!

Touring the country with Mr. and Ms. G.,
Walking the beautiful grounds of Pemberley,
Hearing the staff say that Darcy’s okay,
This is Elizabeth’s favorite day!
*
Cracking a joke and then seeing her dad grin,
Giving a set down to grand Lady Catherine,
Seeing that Charlotte is glad in her way,
This is Elizabeth’s favorite day!
*
Hearing from Darcy that, yes, he still loves her,
Thinking of Catherine, the wrath that they’ll incur,
Darcy has money, so Mom lets him stay,
This is Elizabeth’s favorite day!
*
When the world’s trite,
Mr. C. writes,
Mr. Wick’s in town,
She simply remembers that her husband gets
A yearly ten thousand pounds!
*
Thanks for reading (and singing!) along.
