Theme Songs for Pride & Prejudice Characters

If each of the characters of Pride & Prejudice had a theme song, what would it be?

As I’ve been working on promoting my Pride & Prejudice variations, I’ve been a bit intrigued by TikTok (or more specifically, BookTok).

I set up my own TikTok, and I’ve been having some fun with portraying the characters of Pride & Prejudice with Calico Critters.

It made me wonder, if each character of Pride & Prejudice had their own theme song, what would play as they walked into the room?

I’ve come up with my own list here, and I’d love to hear yours in the comments!

Elizabeth Bennet: “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield

Optimistic, free-spirited, and embracing the future—perfect for her open-minded approach to life.

Fitzwilliam Darcy: “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

Darcy’s reserved exterior and refined taste suggest something smooth and stylish. At first glance, he seems aloof, but there’s a subtle swagger and more than a hint of pride underneath. “Uptown Funk” captures that polished presence while hinting at the energetic charm he hides beneath his formality.

Jane Bennet: “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong

Kind, gentle, and ever-optimistic, Jane would have a theme that exudes warmth and sweetness. Armstrong’s classic celebrates seeing the good in everything and everyone—just like Jane does.

Charles Bingley: “Happy” by Pharrell Williams

Bingley’s friendly disposition, open heart, and sunny outlook on life make “Happy” a natural choice. He lights up every room he enters and rarely lets difficulties dampen his spirits.

Caroline Bingley: “Royals” by Lorde

Ironically hints at her aspiration to align herself with the social elite, though she’s never fully accepted as she wishes.

Lydia Bennet: “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper

Lydia’s carefree, impulsive nature and love of social thrills suit Lauper’s energetic anthem perfectly. She’s always ready for the next party, the next flirtation, and the next bit of excitement.

George Wickham: “Smooth Criminal” by Michael Jackson

Charming on the surface but deceptive at heart, Wickham needs a tune with a bit of seductive mischief and moral ambiguity. “Smooth Criminal” sets the stage for someone who dazzles with his grin while playing dangerous games.

Mrs. Bennet: “Material Girl” by Madonna

Mrs. Bennet’s life revolves around marrying off her daughters (preferably to wealthy husbands) and securing their futures. “Material Girl” playfully points to her fixation on riches, status, and advantageous connections.

Mr. Bennet: “The Lazy Song” by Bruno Mars

Lighthearted and relaxed, capturing his tendency to avoid unnecessary drama and duties whenever possible.

Mary Bennet: “I’m Like a Bird” by Nelly Furtado

Mary often drifts off into her own world, preaching morality and practicing piano without fully connecting to others. “I’m Like a Bird” matches her solitary nature, her tendency to be lost in thought, and her inability to settle comfortably into social circles.

Kitty Bennet: “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen

Playful and a bit flighty, perfectly in tune with her uncertain, easily swayed nature and desire for attention.

Mr. Collins: “I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred

Mr. Collins is hilariously unaware of how ridiculous he appears. Convinced of his own importance and desirability, he struts about Rosings and Longbourn with a self-assurance that is both cringeworthy and comical. “I’m Too Sexy” turns his pompous vanity into a joke for everyone but him.

Charlotte Lucas: “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by The Rolling Stones

Practical, sensible Charlotte settles for a comfortable marriage rather than romantic bliss. “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” reflects her down-to-earth understanding of life’s compromises and the necessity of making the best of what’s available.

Colonel Fitzwilliam: “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” by Randy Newman

Loyal and dependable, reflecting his role as a trustworthy confidant to Darcy and a pleasant company in general.

Georgiana Darcy: “Fields of Gold” by Eva Cassidy

Reflects her heartache over George Wickham’s treachery and desire to be loved. Gentle, warm, and comforting, mirroring her soft nature.
