    A very good point about the miniature! I also think that if Lizzie was enamored by wealth alone, she would have been all over Lady Catherine and her mansion instead of finding them both loud and ostentatious!

    I also agree that it was important that Elizabeth visit Pemberley. It proved that she was not mercenary and also opened her eyes as to why Darcy’s home was so important to so many.

    I’ve always felt because of her description of the sight of Pemberley on arrival that Austen had seen Chatsworth and described that particular home as Darcy’s home. Wish we could ask her which one she used as an example. 🙂
