Everything a Charming Story’s Depiction Ought to Be

I might have spent hours and hours searching for the perfect background picture for my newest audiobook, Irrevocably Gone, but then I came across this popular image that I’ve used in previous social media posts and thought, why not go with this?

Does it not convey everything a Pride and Prejudice retelling ought to convey?

Speaking of hours and hours, I thought I’d never finish this author-read audiobook. Indeed, it felt like months and months of hard work. In fairness, comprising over 40,000 words, it is by far the longest of my stories that I dared to narrate.

Throughout the course of the past few months, I asked myself time and time again what I was thinking. Why not just turn this over to a professional narrator and be done with it? Yes, that would easily have cost close to $1000 or more with no guarantee of a return on the investment. But still…

However, not being one to quit an endeavor so dear to my heart midstream, I stayed the course. Now that it’s done, I have to say I’m rather pleased with how the story turned out.

Here’s a snippet of the story, for your listening pleasure!

I hope you enjoyed Chapter One of Irrevocably Gone. Just in case you’re excited to know what happens next, the complete full-length audiobook is now streaming on YouTube and available to listen to for free.

Happy listening!

Giveaway Time!

By the way, Irrevocably Gone, which can be enjoyed as a standalone story, was inspired by my bestselling novelette, A Tender Moment—a charming tale in its own right.

Want to know how Mr. Darcy found himself calling on Elizabeth at Longbourn so soon after his arrival in Hertfordshire?

Comment below for a chance to win the eBook and the professionally narrated audiobook version of A Tender Moment. I’ll even throw in the eBook edition of Irrevocably Gone too.

Up to three winners will be selected for this giveaway contest. Hurry! The giveaway ends Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

Thanks for your kind words, Gianna. My decision to grow my YouTube channel with a combination of professional narrations and author-read stories has meant so much to me during a time when I’m at such a crossroads in my author journey.

You’re quite welcome. And I know what you mean about crossroads. With the addition of many authors of P&P variations and many new ones appearing on Amazon, those of us who have been here longer are having to rethink what we do, how we write, and how to market same. And that includes our own reputations as well. I must say that it is getting very interesting. I am in the process of rereading all of my books and possibly reworking some of them as well.

I haven’t done a count on the total number of new authors that have been added, but there are around 400+ P&P variations on Amazon. I hope you are finding the changes you have made are helping and wish you the best.
