Jane loved a good steaming cup of tea.  In a letter to Cassandra, Jane wrote, “Let me know when you begin the new Tea.  I am still a Cat if I see a Mouse.”

And Miss Bates in Emma gives us this little gem: “No coffee, I thank you, for me—never take coffee.—A little tea if you please.”

Then, when Mr. Collins tells Elizabeth that she will soon be graced with the ever coveted invitation from Lady Catherine, what is the invitation to?  Tea, of course!

There’s no question about it.  Jane loved her tea.  (Oh, Jane.  I’ve always known we’d be bosom buddies if we’d been born in the same century.)  This month, in honor of Jane’s devotion to the lovely beverage, enjoy some tantalizing facts about tea.

  1. Jane was the tea keeper.

Very cool post! I love tea but I have never done loose leaf very well!lol But Twinings is a favorite with a little sugar no cream. My Mom likes lemon tea or Lady Grey. I like peppermint or sometimes ginger flavored. It’s all good!

Two cups of tea, WITH MILK, for breakfast, along with home-made (healthy with no refined white flour) waffles. My breakfast tea is made with a store-brand tea bag, very strong. When drinking tea without food (say, for a break or dessert), I’ll drink chai or Earl Gray, and add sugar as well as milk. I also drink coffee, with even more milk and some sweetener – but not for breakfast.

Your homemade, healthy waffles sound delicious!
I like chai and Earl Gray too. I never used to drink coffee, but these days, my kids make me sleep deprived enough that sometimes I’ll break.

I rotate between English Breakfast, Earl Grey and Lady Grey. I add a lemon slice to the English Breakfast, and a little sugar to all three. I detest coffee, and tea is a relatively new habit for me – going on 2 years now.

Welcome to the Tea Drinkers Club! Two years definitely qualifies you as a member. The lemon slice sounds like a nice add.
