A Hopeful Endeavor: Bringing Quotes & Drabbles to Life

Besides sharing full-length audiobooks on my YouTube channel, I have also created and shared YouTube shorts. If you’re familiar with YouTube, you know shorts are video clips, ideally under sixty seconds long. Here’s one example:

I also created and uploaded a YouTube short that features a favorite quote from one of my books:

In continuing to expand my YouTube channel’s audience, I am kicking off a new endeavor that features my drabbles as YT shorts. Those of you who are familiar with my work will recall that drabbles are one-hundred-word short stories.

How can I resist combining the two? I am committed to supplying content for channel subscribers. Short and sweet video uploads interspersed with full-length audiobooks feel like a win-win. At least, that’s my hope.

Creating YT shorts is not as simple as it seems, at least not for me. Whether it’s writing the short story (or script), scrolling through endless pages of footage to find something that captures its mood, listening to countless music tracks, and having the stories narrated, a lot of prep work is involved. Then there is the matter of bringing it all together to create the videos. But that said, it’s such a satisfying creative outlet.

Once uploaded to my channel, there’s the pleasure derived from watching the video’s view count climb higher and higher. Conversely, watching it stall after a handful of views is disappointing. In the latter’s case, regardless of the time and effort that went into the video’s creation, I will not hesitate to delete it. Oh, the brutal world of social media. Providing engaging content is the key to growth and longevity. Here’s hoping my experiment with drabbles as YouTube shorts meets with much success in expanding my channel’s subscriber base.

If you’ve read this far, I hope you’ll help my YouTube channel grow by stopping by from time to time and checking out the newest content. If you do, don’t forget to like and subscribe.

I am not a drabbler. It takes me a thousand words to say hello in a story. But, I was looking at one of my best short stories yesterday that was inspired by a drabble. Congratulations moving forward with You Tube. JAFF will rule the space one day!

Thanks so much for your kind wishes. After posting, I started thinking, why not share the video clips on Instagram too? I never thought about TikTok. That’s a wonderful idea!
